The Czech version of my reusable repositories talk at the Frontendisti Brno March meetup: why a GitHub repository is a product interface for other developers, and which non-functional pieces (README, automation, documentation, meta files) turn a code dump into an open source project.
Released: Wed Mar 11 2026
What the session covered
"This is not an open source repo, it's just a code dump on GitHub: what now?" The talk is about everything around the code: the non-functional requirements and meta features that decide whether anyone can reuse your repository. It draws on my experience building SDKs, dev tools, starters, and integration packages.
- A repository is a product interface: other developers meet your README before they meet your code.
- README structure: installation, a getting started example, code samples, links to docs, contact, and license.
- Automation and community files: templates, contributing guides, and checks that keep a project healthy without manual effort.
- Documentation and best practices: what to write down so contributors and users do not have to ask.
The venue
